Competency and Services
Committed to an approach that would engage and galvanize their staff, board, and community partners, Brocade led LAJC through a collaborative rethinking of their identity, goals, governance, and community relationships. With a successful strategic plan in-hand, they accepted a transformative $10M unrestricted gift that further accelerated their work. Brocade later returned to support an analysis and rethinking of their leadership structure.
Wanting to honor individuals whose enslaved labor helped to build its original campus, Emory University engaged Brocade and a partner architectural firm to facilitate a series of 26 community and campus listening and visioning sessions involving hundreds of students, staff and faculty, neighbors, and descendants. The sessions involved sharing context and discussing what messages could be conveyed through multiple on-campus memorials.
A private funder focused on human rights, education, and the environment, the Posner Foundation supports causes on multiple continents and locally in Western Pennsylvania. Wanting to gather its local grantees for the first time for a day-long retreat focused on the transition to higher education, the Foundation engaged Brocade to co-envision and facilitate the retreat. The Foundation used learnings from the retreat to launch a funding RFP focused on student success initiatives.
