Competency and Services
Since Pittsburgh's founding, the city’s Black community has been rooted in the Hill. Today the Hill District is experiencing development pressure from all sides as real estate values rise. The Hill CDC has taken the lead in resisting pressures that don't center the interest of existing residents. Brocade worked with the CDC, using data analysis, research, and engagement to develop an ambitious plan of action focused on changing the socio-economic prospects of the neighborhood without displacing people. If the plan is successful, it will demonstrate a national model for equitable community-led development.
Thirty years after opening, the North Carolina Museum of History is planning for a $100M+ generational expansion. To ensure the new exhibits reflect the stories and voices of a growing state, the Brocade team is facilitating a year-long and statewide engagement process for the Museum. Using a range of engagement methods, we’re gathering (and will soon synthesize) a wide array of perspectives.
Starting with a vision of ensuring their community was one of the best places in the country to age with dignity, the Federation engaged Brocade to lead a nearly year-long engagement and research process focused on the needs of older adults. With insights drawn from interviewing, small group sessions, peer research, and data analysis, we arrived at six clear goals supported by 20 concrete actions.
