Since Pittsburgh's founding, the city’s Black community has been rooted in the Hill. Today the Hill District is experiencing development pressure from all sides as real estate values rise. The Hill CDC has taken the lead in resisting pressures that don't center the interest of existing residents.
Brocade worked with the CDC, using data analysis, research, and engagement to develop an ambitious plan of action focused on changing the socio-economic prospects of the neighborhood without displacing people. If the plan is successful, it will demonstrate a national model for equitable community-led development.
